The attached 1919 STARS & STRIPES article is a brief account of the brave deeds of Major Charles W. Whittlesey of the 308th Infantry Regiment (Seventy-Seventh Division) and why the Congress saw fit to award him the Medal of Honor. Shortly after the war Whittlesey would die by his own hand.
